  • SwapsnShop is a new and innovative service built to promote the reuse of quality pre-owned items to save money for customers whilst meeting their needs and save remanufacturing.
  • SwapsnShop is the trading and business name of Lynchways Ltd, an Irish company set up in 2021 of company number 699542.
  • Our mission is to offer a platform for communities to engage in sustainable choices for their own benefit and the benefit of the sustainable world.
  • Our core values are sustainability, usability, thrift, cooperation.
  • We at SwapsnShop know and have regularly heard the stories, for example, of children growing out of their new and expensive leisure wear (eg sports shoes or wetsuits) after one season which places financial burdens on you to replace with larger sizes the next season. Our service will allow you to successfully swap these items with the sizes needed but without the need to repurchase at expensive prices.
  • Sustainability: best use is made of items by swapping, donating or selling a quality pre-owned item.
  • Inflation busting: in this inflationary environment, increasing prices don’t affect swaps, value not money is exchanged.
  • SwapsnShop matches your swaps for you and Nationally across Ireland. We match swaps between multiple customers to ensure needs can more readily be matched rather than just between a pair of swappers.
  • Our swapping model reverts to the old bartering model before the currency of money was invented. Our ‘Item Category Ratings’ focuses a customer’s item valuation on a range of values, with associated swap credits, rather than on specific monetary amounts thus allowing the swap process to be more fluid (see ‘Frequently Asked Questions’ for what ‘Item Category Ratings’ are in detail). One can exchange the value in the item itself using credits for another item – it’s a money free item swap. The monetary value of the item that we have grown so accustomed is fostering a fast purchase and disposal of quality items with useful lives remaining.
  • It’s flexibile so that you can order straight away with your allocated swap credits after your offered item is published e.g. for ‘Mini’ & ‘Bronze’ ‘Item Category Rated’ items.
  • Swapping saves money as no money is needed in a swap transaction itself. It’s cost neutral – the value is in the item itself which is decided upon by you and, using swap credits, swapped at zero item cost to you.
  • Promotes usage: you will know your item has a better chance of being used again instead of it remaining in storage.
  • Supply chain: swapping insulates from supply chain shortages and delays associated with current standard purchase transactions.
  • SwapsnShop actively matches, on your behalf, your swap preferences to allow swaps, not just directly between two customers, but also swaps indirectly between multiple customers allowing a greater chance of success of all customers meeting their needs. It can be difficult meeting customers’ exact needs swapping directly between just two direct customers, instead there is a greater chance of meeting those needs when multiple customers swap indirectly with each other and that’s what our unique service model can deliver.

  • A customer swaps by giving a quality item and in return receiving a quality item for the equivalent amount of allocated swap credits within the same ‘Item Category Rating’. Each customer uploads their swap item offered and can specify by uploading also what item they would like in return. In the upload, the ‘Item Category Rating’ and ‘Item Quality Rating’ (and other attributes) for their swap item is specified by the customer, not by SwapsnShop. Swap credits are allocated to the customer’s account by Swapsnshop based on the ‘Item Category Rating’ of their item being offered. (see ‘Frequently Asked Questions’ for what ‘Swap Credits’ and ‘Item Category Ratings’ and ‘Item Quality Ratings’ are). Using available allocated swap credits and messaging the other user customers can order their required swap item from other customers on the site. To ensure your swap order is approved, please order only 1 item from the same ‘Item Category Rating’ as your uploaded item and only 1 item per order, as per Terms & Conditions.
  • A swap match can not be formed until a customer’s own item has been ordered by another customer – exceptions are “Mini” and “Bronze” Item Category Rated items – see “Use your “Mini” and “Bronze” swap credits straight away!” section below). SwapsnShop actively manages the swap on each customer’s behalf to identify a swap match. Swap credits on a customer’s account dashboard are reduced by the amount of a validated order. SwapsnShop must match orders between customers on on ‘Silver’ up to ‘Platinum+’ category items before items can be swappedexceptions are lower value ‘Mini’ and ‘Bronze’ items where swaps can occur straight away. SwapsnShop receives all orders, identifies the swap match when made and will notify you and your swapper together of the order and swap details. Do not give your item to any other user until you receive the “Customer Order Complete” notification email from SwapsnShop that your order is ‘completed’ with the order and receiver details of your item. After a matched swap, SwapsnShop notifies you to organise your delivery.
  • Delivery, if required, is paid for by the receiver. Delivery can occur between customers either physically or using a courier delivery provider eg Parcel2Go.com (the receiver orders and pays for the delivery and forwards the consignment / tracking number label email to the giver who writes it on the package or prints off the label and attaches it to the package for delivery). Customers could also meet to swap at SwapsnShop pop-up events.
  • Use your “Mini” and “Bronze” swap credits straight away! For lower value items only, being “Mini” and “Bronze” Item Category Ratings, use your swap credits straight away to order up to 3 equivalent “Mini” and “Bronze” items without having given an item in advance! At the delivery stage, one does not need to give your item before receiving an item – this will allow swaps to process more quickly.
  • By clicking on your username in the top right hand corner of a page, you can review your activity in your account dashboard – see “What is my Dashboard?” in Frequently Asked Questions.
  • Customers can rate each other by submitting Seller Reviews to give much that who they are exchanging with are interested in the same quality as they are – see Seller Reviews on the Home page.
  • Register your account (for privacy, no need to use your email as your “Username” as this will be visible on the website to others) and purchase membership using the links at the top right hand corner of every page (membership is required to order an item, to receive an item and to access chat / message other users). Membership is not required to simply donate or sell items to others.
  • Search for your item in the “Swap Items Available (For You)” page.
  • Upload the item you are giving by clicking the “start to Swap” form link (check out the “Swaps Guide” and the “Swap Items Wanted (From You)” page to identify what other users need from you. After you have uploaded such an item in your “start to Swap” form, SwapsnShop notifies you by email that it is approved and published and you will find it on the “Swap Items Available (For You)” page.
  • Place your order. After you have uploaded such an item in your “start to Swap” form, SwapsnShop allocates the respective Swap Credits to your account based on the ‘Item Category Rating’. Using your allocated swap credits, order the item you need from the “Swap Items Available (For You)” page. To ensure your swap order is approved, please order only 1 item from the same ‘Item Category Rating’ as your uploaded item and only 1 item per order, as per Terms & Conditions.
  • We match and confirm your order by email. We notify the giver and receivers of the items to organise delivery of the items. Do not give your item to any other user until you receive the “Customer Order Complete” notification email from SwapsnShop that your order is ‘completed’ with the order and receiver details of your item. You organise delivery from the owner by messaging them from the “Messages” section in your account.
  • Use your “Mini” and “Bronze” swap credits straight away! : For lower value items only, being “Mini” and “Bronze” Item Category Ratings, use your swap credits straight away to order up to 3 equivalent “Mini” and “Bronze” items without having given an item in advance! At the delivery stage, one does not need to give your item before receiving an item – this will allow swaps to process more quickly. If you give your item before receiving an item, you have your swap credit to order in due course and if you get an item before giving your item users will expect to receive your uploaded item from you in due course also in line with SwapsnShop Terms and Conditions to leave a positive Seller Review. (See ‘Frequently Asked Questions’ for what ‘Item Category Ratings’ are).
  • To assist security for your more valuable rated items, another customer must order your offered item to allow you, in turn, receive back the item you have ordered to match a swap. For “Silver” up to “Platinum+” Item Category Rated items, if the item you are offering is not ordered, you can not receive a swap item back.
  • Adverts, Quality and Security:
      • Create one upload / advertisement per item to ensure the best chance of matching your swap and the best browsing experience for all users in searching for items.
      • Only offer quality items – the website is not a dumping ground for unwanted items beyond their useful lives.
      • Customers can rate each other by submitting Seller Reviews to give confidence that who they are exchanging with are interested in the same quality as they are – see Seller Reviews on the Home page.
      • SwapsnShop must match orders between customers on ‘Silver’ up to ‘Platinum+’ category items before items can be swapped (exceptions are lower value “Mini” and “Bronze” items). In this way, all users are secured for the precious value in their items offered for swap.
      • It is against the Terms and Conditions to swap, sell or donate any counterfeit, fake or dangerous items that may infringe the rights of another person or any animals or living creatures.
    • Register your account (for privacy, no need to use your email as your “Username”) and purchase membership using the links at the top right hand corner of every page (membership is required to order, to receive an item and to access chat / message other users to organise delivery).
    • Instead of swapping, you might also find the item you need on the ‘Shop Sell & Buy’ page to buy or on the ‘Free Donated Items’ page to receive for free. Customers can then order their required buy or donated item from other customers on the site.
    • SwapsnShop receives all orders and will notify you and your customer together of the order and details. Do not give your item to any other user until you receive the “Customer Order Complete” notification email from SwapsnShop that your order is ‘completed’ with the order and receiver details of your item. SwapsnShop notifies you to organise your delivery. You organise delivery from the owner by messaging them from the “Messages” section in your account.
    • Delivery, if required, is paid for by the receiver. Delivery can occur between customers either physically or using a courier delivery provider. Customers could also meet to swap at SwapsnShop pop-up events.
    • Customers can rate each other by submitting Seller Reviews to give confidence that who they are exchanging with are interested in the same quality as they are.
    • You can also register to Sell or Donate your items to others without needing to purchase membership but you then can not order nor receive a swap, buy or donated item yourself nor chat / message other users.
  • To find the “Messages” section in my account / dashboard, either:
    • on a desktop computer, click on your username in the top right hand corner of a page, that will allow you then to click into “Messages” or
    • on a mobile phone, click on the 3 straight lines ‘hamburger button’ in the top right hand corner of a page, that will allow you then to click “My Account / Dashboard (incl Messages)” and finally click “My Account / Dashboard” to click into “Messages”.
  • Use “Messages” to contact other users to arrange collection / delivery of your items.
  • Click on the “click to write” icon / symbol.
  • In the “To: “ box start typing the first letters of the username of the customer you want to message and choose the correct username from the list that appears.
  • In the “Subject: “ box type a subject title for your message.
  • Start writing your message in the “Write your message “ box beside the smiley 😊 face.
  • To send message click the “arrow” icon / symbol.
  • It is the responsibility of customers to organise and pay for delivery, if required, after SwapsnShop notifies you of a successful order.
  • The receiver of your item will organise and pay for collection of it from you. You in turn will organise and pay for collection of your item.
  • Delivery can occur between customers either physically (Swap Local!) or using a courier delivery provider eg Parcel2Go.com (the receiver orders and pays for the delivery and forwards the consignment / tracking number label email to the giver who writes it on the package or prints off the label and attaches it to the package for delivery).
  • Customers could also meet to swap at SwapsnShop pop-up events.
    • By clicking on your username in the top right hand corner of a page, you can review your activity in your account dashboard that will detail the following:
      • Dashboard: number of swap credits you have
      • Messages: messages / chats between you and other users to arrange delivery of your item
      • My Orders: your orders
      • My Uploaded Items: your swap, wanted, sale, donated items created
      • Swap, Donate and Sell an Item: same upload forms as ‘start to Swap, Donate and Sell’ forms
      • Edit Address: insert your Bill to and Shipping addresses
      • Edit Account: change account details including password
      • My Membership: your membership package and expiry date
      • Delete Account: to delete all your account and all your items.

The purpose of an ‘Item Category Rating’ is to facilitate an easier swap by categorising an item’s value within a broader range than a specific monetary value alone. The ‘Item Category Rating’ is determined by the customer. Each ‘Item Category Rating’ has an associated swap credit that is allocated to the customer’s account enabling the customer to order another item to the value of swap credits earned:

  • ‘Platinum+ (P+)’: items greater than €1,600 of estimate value range, user to specify amount (ie swap credits) in ‘Item Description’ box on the ‘start to Swap’ form
  • ‘Platinum (P)’: items between €800 and €1,600 of estimate value range, associated swap credit = 1,600
  • ‘Gold (G)’: items between €400 and €800 of estimate value range, associated swap credit = 800
  • ‘Silver+ (S+)’: items between €200 and €400 of estimate value range, associated swap credit = 400
  • ‘Silver (S)’: items between €100 and €200 of estimate value range, associated swap credit = 200
  • ‘Bronze (B)’: items between €50 and €100 of estimate value range, associated swap credit = 100
  • ‘Mini (M)’: items less than €50 of estimate value range, associated swap credit = 50

Note: a customer can only receive an item in a swap if another customer orders and receives their item (except ‘Mini’ and ‘Bronze’ items) so if the customer determined ‘Item Category Rating’ is too high for an item it may not get ordered by another customer thus preventing a swap occurring.

The purpose of an ‘Item Quality Rating’ is to ensure transparency of quality for all customers across a defined range:

  • ‘New’ – in original packaging and never opened nor used.
  • ‘Never used’ – in original packaging and opened but unused.
  • ‘Used A’ – used & excellent working condition– ‘excellent’ means: Item works perfectly. A well-cared-for item that has seen limited use but remains in excellent condition. The item is complete, unmarked, and undamaged, and shows no signs of wear.
  • ‘Used B’ – used & very good working condition – ‘very good’ means: Item works perfectly. A well-cared-for item that has seen limited use but remains in great condition. The item is complete, unmarked, and undamaged, but may show some limited signs of wear.
  • ‘Used C’ – used & good working condition – ‘good’ means: Item works perfectly. The item shows wear from consistent use, but it remains in good condition. It may be marked, have identifying markings on it, or show other signs of previous use.
  • ‘Used D’ – used & fair working condition – ‘fair’ means: Item works perfectly. The item is fairly worn. Signs of wear can include aesthetic issues such as scratches, dents, and worn corners. The item may have identifying markings on it or show other signs of previous use.

No, SwapsnShop embraces quality and is committed to try to ensure the website is not an end game for rubbish!  We promote the general mantra – do not offer an item of the quality you would not accept yourself. SwapsnShop requires only quality items fitting the ‘Item Quality Ratings’ described here in Frequently Asked Questions and in our Terms and Conditions. It is against the Terms and Conditions to swap, sell or donate any counterfeit, fake or dangerous items or any items that may infringe the rights of another person or any animals or living creatures.

You can leave a positive or negative Seller / Swapper Review by submitting a review (including the Username of the customer you are reviewing) to SwapsnShop on the “Contact Us” page which will be approved and published on the Home page.

  • SwapsnShop facilitates reuse of quality, preowned items for your benefit, the community and the sustainable planet. We offer a unique service model to help you save financially and help the planet by using current items to the end of their natural lives.
  • SwapsnShop supports a Circular Economy to reuse, not rebuy. By using these items it reduces the need to purchase and manufacture a new item (swap, sell or donate your items).
  • SwapsnShop ensures other people can get use from quality items you do not need anymore ie it embraces the value in an item. The value to one is different to the value to another – unlock the value in your item that may be valuable to another.
  • SwapsnShop is the sustainability swap site of choice as it offers a unique service to its customers and the community. We do not just offer a platform to allow swap items to be gathered, in addition, we actively match, on your behalf, your swap preferences to allow swaps, not just directly between two customers, but also swaps indirectly between multiple customers allowing a greater chance of success of all customers meeting their needs.

To register either:

  • on a desktop computer, click on “LOG IN OR REGISTER” in the top right hand corner of a page, or
  • on a mobile phone, click on the 3 straight lines ‘hamburger button’ in the top right hand corner of a page, that will allow you then to click “Login / Register”.

To register, all you need is the following:

  • Your full name
  • A Username (not your email address for your privacy security)
  • Email Address
  • Password

Agree to the terms as listed.

  • In all transactions, any delivery costs are paid for by the receiver of all items.
  • To swap: a membership fee (e.g. up to a certain number of swap orders or number of months, whichever occurs sooner) is payable in order to be able to receive any swap item.
  • To buy an item or receive a donated item: a membership fee (up to a certain number of orders or number of months, whichever occurs sooner) in order to be able to receive an item from a buying or donated transaction.
  • To sell: a 10% commission (and standard 3rd party processing fees eg 1.5%) are deducted from the seller from sale proceeds, no other membership fees applicable to the seller.
  • To donate: no costs to the donator.
  • Swapping consists of a customer giving a quality item and in return receiving a quality item for the equivalent amount of swap credits within the same ‘Item Category Rating’, it’s a money free item swap. Swap credits are allocated, by SwapsnShop, to the swapper’s account based on the ‘Item Category Rating’, determined by the swapper, of the item being offered. SwapsnShop actively manage the swap on each customer’s behalf to identify a swap match. To protect swappers’ valuable items, SwapsnShop must match orders between customers on on ‘Silver’ up to ‘Platinum+’ category items before items can be swappedexceptions are lower value ‘Mini’ and ‘Bronze’ items where swaps can occur straight away.
  • Selling consists of a customer offering a quality item for sale directly to another customer and receiving the monetary value in return less 10% commission.
  • Donating consists of a customer offering a quality item for free donation directly to another customer and receiving no monetary value in return.
  • Register your account (for privacy, no need to use your email as your “Username” as this will be visible on the website to others) and purchase membership using the links at the top right hand corner of every page (membership is required to order an item, to receive an item and to access chat / message other users). Membership is not required to simply donate or sell items to others.
  • Search for your item in the “Swap Items Available (For You)” page.
  • Upload the item you are giving by clicking the “start to Swap” form link (check out the “Swaps Guide” and the “Swap Items Wanted (From You)” page to identify what other users need from you). After you have uploaded such an item in your “start to Swap” form, SwapsnShop notifies you by email that it is approved and published and you will find it on the “Swap Items Available (For You)” page.
  • Place your order. After you have uploaded such an item in your “start to Swap” form, SwapsnShop allocates the respective Swap Credits to your account based on the ‘Item Category Rating’. Using your allocated swap credits, order the item you need from the “Swap Items Available (For You)” page. To ensure your swap order is approved, please order only 1 item from the same ‘Item Category Rating’ as your uploaded item and only 1 item per order, as per Terms & Conditions. We match and confirm your order by email and you organise delivery from the owner by messaging them from the “Messages” section in your account.
  • On the site, we approve and publish your item to swap and what item you wish to receive in return. We notify you of your item published.
  • We allocate swap credits to your account based on the Item Category Rating of the item you are offering for swap.
  • When we receive your order and someone orders your item, we match all swap orders.
  • We notify the giver and receivers of the items to organise delivery of the items. Do not give your item to any other user until you receive the “Customer Order Complete” notification email from SwapsnShop that your order is ‘completed’ with the order and receiver details of your item.
  • We manage customers’ accounts.
  • We answer queries you have from ‘Contact Us’.

‘Credits’ are swap credits and are determined by ‘Item Category Ratings’. The number of swap credits allocated are based on the ‘Item Category Rating’ of the item offered to swap. They are used instead of a specific monetary amount so that a broad range of value is the determining factor to facilitate a swap. Swap credits are allocated to a customer’s account enabling the customer to order any other item to the value of swap credits earned for an item of the same ‘Item Category Rating’. Swap credits are used and reduced by the amount of the swap credits of a swap item ordered.

We are generally conditioned to fast turnarounds for a sale transaction – they are fast due to the simplicity of the one to one sales model. Yet the sales model can also have its downsides in terms of sustainability.

In a swap model for the higher value items, where there maybe swaps between multiple indirect customers, the reality is that the turnaround will be longer. The turnaround for ‘Mini’ and ‘Bronze’ items will be much faster as one does not have to give an item before receiving an item – (See “Use your “Mini” and “Bronze” swap credits straight away!” in “Swap Guide” section in Frequently Asked Questions for more on this).

Our swap model is managed by us for you across multiple indirect customers improving the opportunities for successful swap matches that are less likely to occur in a standard one-to-one direct swap scenario. The swap model has the advantage of not relying upon money in order to transact so, as such, swapping is an entirely different method of transacting to a sales model.

No, SwapsnShop is first and foremost a website service yet from time to time physical pop-up events are possible that are customer focused allowing physical delivery.
